Hail The Red Army

Opening in the UK on March 4th (US February 5th), the latest Coen brother's film Hail, Caesar! is a comedy set in the Hollywood studio world of the 1950s. Josh Brolin stars as Eddie Mannix, a fixer whose job is to keep the big time actors in line. The soundtrack features four songs ( Slavery And Suffering, Echelons Song, Varchavianka and Kalinka) from Silva Screen's extensive catalogue of Red Army recordings.

Silva Screen Goes To Specsavers

The new Specsavers ad featuring John Cleese reprising his Basil Fawlty role features Silva Screen's recording of the Fawlty Towers theme. Written by Dennis Wilson, who also composed the Rising Damp theme, the simple string quartet piece provided a marvelous counterpoint to the manic scenes from the legendary sitcom. Our version recorded by The London Ensemble provides a perfect rendition of the original.

Silva Screen For The People

Two Silva Screen titles appear in the PPL People's Classical Chart Of 2013. They are the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra's recordings of O Fortuna and By The Beautiful Danube conducted by Nic Raine and Paul Bateman respectively. PPL’s annual ‘People’s Charts’ are compiled from music data from PPL’s licensees across the UK (including radio stations and television channels as well as public performance locations such as pubs, clubs, bars, jukeboxes, gyms and shops) to find the most played recordings of the year.  

Samsung Curved OLED TV Ad

Samsung's new worldwide TV campaign for their Curved OLED TV has been launched in New York. The epic advert  set in a Roman amphitheatre uses a Silva Screen master recording - John Barry's Zulu Appearance And Assault from the 1964 film. The track appears on the forthcoming May 5th release The Music Of John Barry - The Definitive Collection.      

Battle Of The Iron Men

The RBS Six Nations rugby tournament kicks off on Saturday Feb 1st with Wales V Italy. Silva Screen will be supplying the build-up themes to this major sporting tournament from our best selling release Music From The Iron Man Trilogy.

Butlins Sparkle In A Summer Place

Butlin's new animated 'sparkle' TV ad features Silva Screen's recording of Percy Faith's haunting arrangement of  "Theme For A Summer Place" composed by Max Steiner for the film, "A Summer Place" released in 1959. This evocative instrumental piece was a record-breaking nine week number one in the US in 1960 and made number two on the UK charts.

Chevin Are Champion For William Hill

So Recording artist's The Chevin feature on William Hill's extensive season long Mobile Betting campaign. Their anthemic Champion provides the perfect match for this snappy ad.

Confederations Cup Theme

The Confederations Cup kicks off in Brazil this week, a soccer tournament featuring many of the greatest national teams on the planet and a precursor to next year's World Cup in the same country. Taking place from June 15th to June 30th, the BBC will feature extended coverage on BBC1 and BBC3. McDonalds' "Great Tastes Of America" campaign has returned to UK screens and once more uses the defining Western theme "The Big Country" utilising Silva Screen's master recording performed by The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The promotion will run for the next five weeks.

An overview of advertising syncs in the UK,  highlighting record label and master rights holders shows Silva Screen to be a leading player in the marketplace with a 0.7% share of this ever-growing industry. Up against major labels who dominate the chart it places the company neatly inside the top 10 at number nine. The research is based on a survey of 500 key campaigns that have aired in the last 12 months.  

Powering Up Ireland

Duke & The King's magnificently laid-back Shine On You will continue its run as the back-drop for the great Electric Ireland advert this summer. It can be seen for three week periods in May, July and September.

I Grew Up In The 60s!

 On November 26th EMI release the latest in their successful I Grew Up Series with a new set celebrating "the decade, the style, and the music of the 60s". Silva Screen have supplied a number of tracks including The City Of Prague Orchestra performing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady. London Music Works contribute with the Batman and Top Cat themes.
